I heard your interview and had to pull the car over to believe it was real . . .
Hello Martin,I heard your interview the other day on the radio. I had to pull the car over to believe it was real.
My thoughts, my torn caregivers soul, and my heart…all there on the radio coming through your eloquent sincerity. What a relief – you spoke what I had witnessed and what toxified my entire being for 12 long years until my mom died, and even now.
No longer the floating words of some exhausted caregiver, you guided them safely onto this earth. The care agenda is the exact opposite of what they sell the families, they treat the elderly, our earth’s treasures, as old stained wallpaper -
never speaking directly to them, never cherishing their individual stories and vitality, and yes, death, is handled even worse than life. For 12 years they thought my mom would die “any minute” – for 12 years, and especially the last months, I
fought for her to have every single moment she wanted with her family. Not dying on their trajectory, but her own.Even/especially her last hours, the night she left us, it was necessary to fight off the monetarily driven system,
to allow her to go when she and G-d had decided it was the time to go.My mother has a courageous story to tell. I applaud your prioritized effort for record the evaporating stories of those around you.
I hope to speak with you and receive some encouragement as to how I can best tell my moms story, in video and word, to give clarity and courage to others. It is the High Holidays and I shall include you among my prayers as you are truly an angel on this earth.
Best regards,
